Things A Woman Should Have In her Purse

Honestly, I could never understand why women put soooooo much in their purse and take it around everywhere with them. Then I started doing it myself πŸ™‚

I always used to just have my ipod, digital camera and maybe a small pen & paper, now I’m loaded with stuff! It just keeps adding, every time I would go out I would think “I wish I had floss…. I wish I had chap stick… I need a mirror!”

So here are a few essentials:

1. GUM/MINTS
– Honestly, you never know when you’re going to need it. Besides, what if you go out for lunch or have a coffee? You don’t want garlic AND coffee breath do you? What if you run into a crush? πŸ˜‰

2. HAND SANITIZER
– Isn’t it gross touching doors, dirty ATM buttons, and who knows what else… It’s always best to have some kind of anti-bacterial bottle in your purse. Places like Bath & Body Works now have them in heavenly scents. And they come in travel sizes!

3. ASPIRIN
– Many times I’ve gone out and the dreaded pounding starts. Nothing is worse than a headache. There have been many times I wish I had it. Thankfully I started, and it’s saved my life! Headaches always ruin one’s day. So make sure you grab a bottle and carry a few around. Good thing because IB now comes in “travel” sizes.

4. NOTEBOOK & PEN
– Like the aspirin, a simple notebook and pen has saved me many times! Writing anything you might want in the future comes in handy. What if you need to scribble down a number or address? They have them at Wal-Mart, Zellers, Chapters/Indigo, or even Dollarama!

5. MONEY
– Always have money. I can’t understand people who just carry around cards. What if you need cash? Carry about $20, and about $5 in change.

6. MIRROR
– What if something is in your eye? Or you eat chocolate cake – nothing funnier than someone with chocolate all over their teeth πŸ™‚

7. SNACK
– Just a small baggy (zip-lock is just fine) of various nuts. Or even carry a granola bar, never know when your stomach will rumble!

8. FLOSS
– Refreshens your teeth!

9. DIGITAL CAMERA
– You never know what you’re going to see! I always have mine, even if I’m just walking down the street to pick up a paper πŸ™‚

10. IPOD
– My iPod has been attached to my hip for years πŸ™‚ It goes EVERYWHERE with me… as long as I have my iPod and digital camera I’m set!

11. BOOK
– Thankfully books don’t always come in large/heavy sizes anymore! You can purchase small books that easily fit into your purse!

Get Your Book Wet!

Not sure why I thought of it, but one day I was in Chapters and I thought, “I wonder if there’s such a thing as water-proof books?” Obviously there are some for kids to bring in the bath (I assume), so why not make adult books? They would be perfect for vacation or reading it while I’m at my cottage for the summer!

I wouldn’t know where to look, so I asked someone and the only water-proof book he knew of was an Erotic book (LOL) – and he only knows that because it’s always asked for AND is constantly sold out. But he took me to where it was because if there were others it would be there. Turns out, there was!

Two of them; Poolside, and the Beach Book. They were in the anthologies section, bought them right away! (they were originally $21 each, but you can now purchase them for $5 – BOO!). Anyway, I was leaving for my yearly Las Vegas trip and these were perfect for the trip! Like many, I love reading while on vacation and I love reading by the pool, but it’s hard because I think we become more worried about the book getting wet than paying attention to the plot.

With these books I didn’t have to worry! Of course to bring a WHAT THE HECK DID SHE JUST DO? look to most people’s faces, before I hit the pool I just tossed the book in πŸ™‚ It definitely took books.

But what a relief to read the book and not worry about getting pages wet! Half the book was in the water and half was out, not even that, it was okay to have my hands wet. Wonderful! The stories weren’t even bad either, I did enjoy almost all of them. I highly recommend water-proof books for your next vacation!

Not entirely sure why there isn’t a bigger market for it, I would love to read other water-proof books.

PRICE: $4.99 each (regular, $21)

I’m all for books. It’s all I buy. BOOKS, BOOKS and more BOOKS. I can’t even keep up with all my books, so many I haven’t read.. and yet, I keep purchasing them. I even have FOUR huge boxes of books downstairs because I keep running out of room. My excuse is, “well, I’ll just take a box up at the cottage for the summer… that’ll definitely clear some room on my shelf.”

My dad came up to my room last year and said, “Alright, I’m getting you another bookshelf.” This is what a (almost typical) day of book shopping looks like for me

Which now got me thinking: LIBRARIES/STUDY. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could all have the Library/Study of our dreams built, a beautiful comfortable chair/couch, sipping Starbucks (of course ;)) and read books all day?

I came across this beauty (Britain)

But by far, I think (at least I think us women) wish for that wonderful library from Disney’s Beauty & The Beast… don’t you think?
